What are Hoof Mate soaking tablets used for?

Hoof Mate tablets are mixed with water to prepare an activated chlorine dioxide solution for soaking and thoroughly cleansing the hoof and lower leg.

How much soaking solution does one Hoof Mate tablet make?

One tablet makes approximately 500 mL of soaking solution. Use two tablets with one litre of clean water.

How many litres does one box make?

A box contains 30 tablets and makes up to 15 litres of soaking solution.

How long should hooves be soaked?

Once the tablets have fully dissolved and the solution has activated, soak the hoof for 20–30 minutes according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Can Hoof Mate reach hoof crevices?

Yes. Soaking allows the prepared solution to flow into hoof grooves, cracks and crevices that may be difficult to access during ordinary surface cleaning.

Hoof Mate contains self-activating tablets that create an activated chlorine dioxide soaking solution when mixed with water.

Thoroughly clean the hoof before preparing the solution. Remove accessible mud, dirt and loose debris so the soaking solution can reach the intended hoof areas.

For one litre of soaking solution:

Fill a clean, non-metallic container with one litre of clean water.

Add two Hoof Mate tablets.

Seal the container and allow approximately 10 minutes for the tablets to dissolve. The prepared solution will turn yellow.

Pour the solution into a suitable hoof-soaking boot, rubber pan or non-metallic bucket and soak the hoof for 20–30 minutes.

Follow the manufacturer’s complete directions for application frequency.

Use in a well-ventilated area. Do not breathe the gas produced by the activated solution.

Do not use metal utensils or containers when mixing, measuring or holding the prepared solution.

Remove horseshoes before soaking, as chlorine dioxide may corrode unprotected metals.

Do not store mixed solution in direct sunlight.

Chlorine dioxide-forming tablets containing sodium hydrogen sulphate below 40%.

The prepared solution may bleach or discolour hair, clothing and other materials.

The prepared solution may irritate open wounds or sensitive tissue if the directions are not followed carefully.

Do not use metal utensils, containers or soaking equipment.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Store the tablets below 25°C and away from direct sunlight in their original sealed packaging.

First aid: Do not swallow. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush the skin and hair with running water. If the product enters the eyes, flush with running water and continue until advised to stop by a Poisons Information Centre or doctor, or for at least 15 minutes.
